Heathers: The Musical is a darkly funny, high-energy, PG-13 show based on the cult classic 1980’s film starring Winona Ryder. Set in a 1980’s high school where popularity rules and cliques reign, the story follows Veronica Sawyer, a smart and thoughtful teen who gets swept into the world of the powerful and ruthless popular girls—the Heathers. When she meets a mysterious new student, events take a wildly unexpected turn, forcing her to question what it really means to do the right thing. With catchy songs, sharp wit, and plenty of throwback flair, this modern musical explores friendship, peer pressure, and the journey to self-acceptance. While playful and energetic, Heathers also touches on more mature themes with humor and heart making it a bold, contemporary musical you won’t want to miss!

About this Community Theatre
In the summer of 1967 a trio of theatre enthusiasts decided that everyone deserved to participate in & enjoy the art of theatre -- even in a then-small city like Shawnee, and founded Shawnee's Community Theatre.
From then on, SLT has run a 100% volunteer operation, providing opportunities throughout the year for individuals to star in, direct, and attend quality live theatre right here in Shawnee.
SLT produces 4-6 shows each year, often in partnership with other local arts organizations like Oklahoma Baptist University and Silver Lining Arts Academy.
